Every 1IX Certified server goes through a 100+ point validation process, 72-hour burn-in, and full firmware update before it reaches your datacenter. Here is what that actually means.
“Refurbished” describes where a server came from. It tells you the server was previously owned and has been returned to working condition. That is all it tells you.
1IX Certified describes what happens to the server before it reaches your datacenter. It is a 100+ point validation process, firmware update, 72-hour burn-in, and warranty commitment. It is the difference between buying a used server and buying enterprise compute that happens to have been previously owned.
Every component in a 1IX Certified server is inspected and validated against Dell specifications. This includes:
Any component that fails validation is replaced. We do not ship servers with known degraded components.
Outdated firmware is one of the most common causes of server instability. Dell releases BIOS, iDRAC, and storage controller firmware updates regularly to address security vulnerabilities, fix bugs, and improve performance.
Every 1IX Certified server receives the latest stable firmware before delivery. This includes:
We do not install beta or pre-release firmware. We install the latest stable version that Dell has validated for production use.
The 72-hour burn-in is the most important step in the 1IX Certified process. After validation and firmware updates, every server runs under continuous load for 72 hours.
This is not a quick boot test. It is a sustained stress test designed to surface latent defects — components that pass initial testing but fail under sustained load or thermal cycling. Memory modules that throw errors after hours of use. Power supplies that degrade under load. Storage drives that develop bad sectors after extended write operations.
If a server fails the burn-in, the failing component is replaced and the burn-in restarts. No server ships until it completes 72 continuous hours of stable operation under load.
Every 1IX Certified server includes a 1-year hardware warranty. If a component fails during the warranty period, 1IX replaces it at no charge.
This is not an OEM warranty. It is a 1IX warranty — which means you deal with us directly, not with Dell's support queue. Our engineers know your server because they validated it. They have the serial numbers, the configuration records, and the burn-in data on file.
For customers who need ongoing support beyond the first year, 1Care Compute extends monitoring, firmware management, and hardware replacement into a managed service — the same 1View / 1Run / 1Care architecture that powers our network business.
Tell us your workload. We will design the right Dell PowerEdge configuration, validate it, and deliver it in 2–3 weeks.
